Elmer's Recipe for Fish Tank Slime

Go under the sea with this fish tank slime.  Simply make some blue slime, fill your favorite covered glass jar and add some sea creatures.  It’s super easy and kid-friendly!
    • Easy to Moderate

    Supplies Needed

5 fl oz Elmer’s Clear School Glue
    ½ tbsp. of baking soda
1 tbsp. of contact lens solution
    Blue food coloring
    Clear jar with lid
Your choice of toy sea creatures

    1. Pour out one bottle of Elmer’s Clear School Glue into a container.
    2. Begin with one drop of blue food coloring and mix.  If needed, add more food coloring until desired blue color.
    3. Add ½ tbsp. of baking soda and mix thoroughly.
    4. Add 1 tbsp of contact solution.
    5. Mix until mixture gets harder and slime begins to form.
    6. Take the slime out and begin kneading with both of your hands.
    7. If needed, add ¼ tbsp of contact solution to make the slime less sticky.
    8. In a clear container, add ½ of the slime.
    9. Place your sea creatures of choice and add the remaining slime on top of your creatures for an underwater look.

*Adult supervision is required; This project is not appropriate for children under the age of 3 years. Always wash your hands before and after making and playing with slime. Warning: If large quantities of contact lens solution are accidentally ingested (greater than a tablespoon), get medical attention immediately.

*Some contact solution brands work better than others, check out our Slime Tips section for all the details.
